Ahsoka’s eventual fate, or at least the way I see it.  Quietly travelling the galaxy helping people, eventually fading away into legend as the decades roll by. After the fall of the empire,  people would talk about a female togruta powerful in the force, always appearing when she’s needed most and disappearing just as quickly.  She was always alone, but sometimes she’d talk to thin air and even crack an occasional smile, as if there was someone standing right next to her.

We have to take this story with a grain of salt, as it’s a story being told in-universe and one that would involve a whole lot of explaining for how the storyteller knew anything about Anakin Skywalker as a child (given how entirely unrelated they are to him as Anakin or Vader), so it’s not precisely canon, as well as I think it’s important to remember that Anakin was not a 100% pure child, he was Ready To Fuckin’ Go with fists and fury the moment another child said he was cheating during The Phantom Menace delete scene.

But what I love about this universe-story about Anakin–aside from how heart-meltingly precious he was!–is that it illustrates that there was good in him, once upon a time.  And that it shows how he values people over things, that in the worst of circumstances that means he’ll burn down everything else to save a person he loves, but in the best of circumstances it means that he’ll give up the power cell that could have fueled his podracer because the hospital staff needed it more.

This is the Anakin that Padme and Obi-Wan and Ahsoka all loved, before he made all the worst decisions.  That little boy from Tatooine, who was funny and could be so sweet in the right moments, they loved him.  Anakin never really grew up from being this little boy, in both good ways and bad ways, that he was afraid for understandable reasons but never growing beyond that, never wanting to give up that he loved too hard and that it tipped over into possessiveness instead, but always there was a sweetness to him, a boyish charm where he loved so intensely, he would give up all the things he had because they never meant as much to him as the people he desperately loved.

He obviously went too far with it, he loved them to the point of obsession, but what makes him such a brilliant character is that he was never a demon child, he was never without love or willingness to help others.  It was instead that it was too much and he couldn’t control it.

In the best of times, you get Anakin setting his own wants aside to help a hospital because they needed it more than he did.  In the worst of times, you get Revenge of the Sith.

But they are both part of who Anakin Skywalker was.
